← Back to HomeNERO 7-DOF Robotic Arm by AgileX Robotics
Engineered for Embodied AI and Humanoid Robotics, NERO's fully open architecture features a lightweight design with 7 Degrees of Freedom (7-DOF). A flexible, research-grade solution for rapid, easy deployment in academy and R&D labs. Now with ClawArm natural language control — say what you want the arm to do, and it happens.
Human-Like Motion Control
NERO uses a 7-DOF arm design that delivers smooth and natural movements. The humanoid-inspired redundant configuration doesn't just add an extra degree of freedom — it fundamentally transforms what's possible. By replicating the kinematic structure of a human arm, NERO enables human-like obstacle avoidance, more natural motion trajectories, and the ability to optimize secondary objectives while executing primary tasks. It is well suited for embodied AI and humanoid robot research.
Lightweight, Strong and Easy to Install
NERO weighs only 4.8 kg and carries up to 3 kg payload. It supports cameras, grippers, and sensors as end-effectors. It can be installed on a table, mounted on the side, or upside down — offering maximum flexibility for any research setup.
Full-Stack & Flexible Deployment
Full-stack control via CAN / HTTP / TCP protocols, plus intuitive modes: Drag-and-Teach, Offline Trajectory, and API control. Seamlessly compatible with Python SDK, ROS1 and ROS2 frameworks. Easily integrates with AgileX mobile chassis for a complete embodied robotics platform.
Stable and Precise for Research
NERO provides repeatability of ±0.1 mm, power use under 60W, and noise levels under 60 decibels. This makes it suitable for labs, offices, and mobile robot platforms where precision and quiet operation are essential.
ClawArm Integration — Natural Language Control
ClawArm is an open-source AI-powered control system built on OpenClaw that lets you control NERO by simply describing what you want in plain English. No manual joint calculations, no coordinate math. Two control modes available:
- Skill Mode: AI generates complete Python control scripts for complex, multi-step sequences
- Plugin Mode: Real-time interactive tools (arm_move, arm_status, arm_stop) for step-by-step control
Every command passes through a multi-layer safety system with joint limits, workspace boundaries, and velocity caps.
